Did you know that Pecan Trees are the last to bud out after winter? When they do, Spring is officially here. I was sitting outside earlier today under a pecan tree. I looked up and saw a ton of buds and new leaves. When had they sprouted? Sometime this week but I'd never noticed. I was excited and a little disappointed that I hadn't noticed it earlier. I know I checked at the end of last week but the branches had been bare. Now at the end of this week, the trees are erupting with life. It's magical the way nature works.

In my writing, I love to discover something I wasn't expecting, just the like the budding leaves on that tree. When I find unique characteristics about my hero/heroine or even an unexpected plot twist, it's great. I have discovered a new leaf budding out from my imagination where it will one flourish into an endearing tale.

I love the analogy. It also gives new meaning to the term budding author.;)

Spring! I love the fragrance of budding flowers. As a writer, I love the fresh, new ideas that come when I least expect them. A heady experience which inspires.

There is definitely something about spring to "awaken" romance in a writer. Maybe it's the promise of heat after so many cold days and nights. Or just that, like when we're in love, senses are more acute to birds and flowers and the sun on skin. Kudos on an excellent thought-provoking post!
